Delaware QB Pat Devlin joining Dolphins
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - As NFL teams began signing undrafted rookie free agents Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins swooped in for former University of Delaware quarterback Pat Devlin.
During the NFL lockout, Devlin was said to be targeting a team as the best fit for him. ESPN.com reported that Devlin signed a three-year contract.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Devlin led Delaware to the FCS championship game as a fifth-year senior last season. He threw for 5,696 yards and 38 touchdowns in two seasons with the Blue Hens after transferring in from Penn State.
His former Delaware teammates, defensive backs Anthony Bratton and Anthony Walters, agreed to terms with the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears, respectively.
Other top undrafted FCS players to agree to terms or sign, according to FCS schools and nepatriotsdraft.com, included Appalachian State defensive end Jabari Fletcher (Cleveland Browns), Richmond defensive tackle Martin Parker (New York Giants), Elon quarterback Scott Riddle (Jacksonville Jaguars), Arkansas-Pine Bluff wide receiver Raymond Webber (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Cal Poly wide receiver Dominique Johnson (Minnesota Vikings), North Dakota State cornerback Josh Gatlin (New Orleans Saints), Northern Iowa tight end Schuylar Oordt (St. Louis Rams), Southern Utah wide receiver Tysson Poots (Baltimore Ravens), Texas Southern outside linebacker Dejuan Fulghum (Detroit Lions), South Dakota State tight end Colin Cochart (Cincinnati Bengals) and Jacksonville State offensive tackle Curt Porter (Denver Broncos).
Other first-day signings included Arkansas-Pine Bluff offensive lineman Arthur Thomas (St. Louis Rams), Eastern Washington safety Jesse Hoffman (Seattle Seahawks), Elon wide receiver Sean Jeffcoat (Arizona Cardinals), Furman wide receiver Adam Mims (Pittsburgh Steelers), Chattanooga offensive lineman Chris Harr (Kansas City Chiefs), Delaware State defensive lineman Andre Carroll (Cleveland Browns), Fordham safety Isa Abdul-Quddus (New Orleans Saints), Hampton defensive end Brandon Peguese (Philadelphia Eagles) and safety Ricardo Silva (Detroit Lions), and Harvard offensive tackle Brett Osborne (Seattle Seahawks).
Also picking teams were Illinois State offensive tackle Chris Riley (Cincinnati Bengals), Jacksonville State cornerback T.J. Heath (Jacksonville Jaguars), James Madison offensive lineman Theo Sherman (Green Bay Packers), Monmouth wide receiver Chris Hogan (San Francisco 49ers) and center Tom Ottaiano (New York Jets), Murray State wide receiver Marcus Harris (Detroit Lions), Northern Arizona wide receiver Davieun Curry-Chapman (Arizona Cardinals) and safety Matt Estrada (Jacksonville Jaguars), and Northern Iowa tight end Ryan Mahaffey (Baltimore Ravens).
