Maine football player killed in crash Orono, ME (Sports Network) - Charles Kyeremeh, a sophomore running back at the University of Maine, was killed in a crash involving 11 motorcycles Sunday afternoon. The crash took place on Route 125 in Schuylkill County, Pa., and involved a group of 10 motorcyclists who were parked when Kyeremeh lost control of his bike and crashed into the group. "Charles was an outstanding young man who had a bright future, both on and off the football field," Maine coach Jack Cosgrove said. "He was an important part of our team, and we are all devastated by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Charles' family and friends during this difficult time." Kyeremeh, who had redshirted during the 2010 season, was an honor roll student who had graduated from Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pa. "He was a great young man with a big heart. One of the things I remember about him the most was his smile. He always had a great big smile," Tom Waranavage, Kyeremeh's high school coach, told the Lebanon Daily News. 07/11 11:44:05 ET |
