Hamilton becomes Georgia State RBs coach
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Georgia State has named former Heisman Trophy runner-up Joe Hamilton as its running backs coach, head coach Bill Curry announced Monday.
The former Georgia Tech standout, who was second to Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne in the 1999 Heisman balloting, was a recruiting intern at Georgia State for the last year. He replaces Todd Perry, who returned to coach in the high school ranks.
"A year ago, I had the opportunity to add Joe to our recruiting staff, and since the day he got here, he has been a team player. He has gotten results, no matter the task," Curry said. "I think he has a bright future as a coach."
Hamilton holds numerous records at Georgia Tech, including its all-time lead in passing yards, touchdown passes and total offense.
Georgia State finished 6-5 in its inaugural season under Curry last year.
