Cowboys take Arkin in fourth round
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Missouri State offensive guard David Arkin became the first FCS player taken on the final day of the NFL Draft when the Dallas Cowboys picked him in the fourth round with the 110th overall selection Saturday.
The 6-foot-5, 302-pound Arkin, from Wichita, Kan., is both agile and quick, and considered especially strong in coming off the ball as a run blocker. He never missed a start in his 44-game college career and played three seasons at guard before switching to left tackle as a senior.
"I just got off the phone with (Cowboys owner) Jerry Jones," said Arkin, who was at the Battlefield Mall in Springfield, Mo., while the Cowboys selected him. "It's just crazy. It is a great feeling, and I am very excited about this opportunity."
Arkin was selected to The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS All-America first team as a senior.
