Coastal Carolina to visit Georgia, play five at home
Conway, SC (Sports Network) - A visit to the University of Georgia is one of the highlights of Coastal Carolina's 2011 football schedule which includes five home games.
The Chanticleers will take on Georgia in Athens on Sept. 17. The two teams have never played before.
Prior to that game, Coastal Carolina will play twice at home. It will kick off its ninth season on Sept. 3 against Furman and then host NCAA Division II Catawba on Sept. 10. Chanticleers head coach David Bennett was Catawba's head coach from 1995-2001.
Coastal Carolina also will host three Big South Conference opponents in its 11-game schedule: VMI (Oct. 8); Gardner-Webb (Oct. 22); and Presbyterian (Nov. 5).
The Chanticleers are coming off a FCS playoff appearance in 2010. They earned the Big South's first automatic playoff bid after they tied for the conference crown with Liberty and Stony Brook. They finished 6-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
