Holy Cross promotes McKenzie to OC
Worcester, MA (Sports Network) - Holy Cross head football coach Tom Gilmore promoted quarterbacks coach Andy McKenzie to offensive coordinator on Wednesday.
In addition, Matt Fanning and Bill McCarthy returned to Holy Cross as the running backs coach and tight ends coach, respectively.
McKenzie served as the Crusaders' quarterbacks coach for the last three seasons and will continue to coach the position along with his new duties as offensive coordinator. He was instrumental in the development of 2008 and 2009 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year Dominic Randolph, and helped the Crusaders to the 2009 Patriot League championship.
Prior to Holy Cross, McKenzie spent six seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Allegheny College; two seasons as the quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator at Williams College; and four seasons at Northeastern University, working with the wide receivers for three seasons and the secondary for one season.
Fanning served as Holy Cross' running backs coach during the 2008 campaign before spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at Boston College. McCarthy was the Crusaders' running backs coach in 2009 before becoming a defensive assistant at Villanova last year.
Holy Cross was 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League last season.
