Richmond to get Georgia Tech transfer
Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Former Georgia Tech safety Cooper Taylor is transferring to the University of Richmond and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning next season, Spiders head coach Latrell Scott announced Wednesday.
The first-year coach said Taylor has signed an athletics grant-in-aid to attend Richmond and will enroll in class next semester.
Taylor, who stands 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, was a highly touted prep prospect out of Marist School in Atlanta, and played for Georgia Tech as a true freshman in 2008. That season, he saw action in 13 games, made three starts and finished with 69 tackles and an interception.
His playing time was limited by injury in both 2009 and 2010. In 20 career games, Taylor has totaled 90 tackles and two interceptions.
Richmond, the 2008 FCS champion, had a 6-5 record this season.
