W&M's Trantin won't play this season Williamsburg, VA (Sports Network) - William and Mary middle linebacker Jake Trantin withdrew from school for the fall semester and will not participate in the remainder of the 2010 football season. The university announced Trantin withdrew for family reasons and his return in the spring semester is expected. The junior was named to The Sports Network/Fathead.com Preseason FCS All-America Third Team, but suffered a concussion in practice right before the season. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound Trantin had 90 tackles as a sophomore last year. "Jake and his family have decided it was in his best interests for them to be together at this time," William & Mary coach Jimmye Laycock said. "It was a difficult decision for all involved, but he has our full support." William & Mary (5-1) is ranked fourth in The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25. 10/15 10:17:52 ET |
