Nicholls State hires Stubbs as next football coach

Thibodaux, LA (Sports Network) - Nicholls State University announced on Monday the hiring of Charlie Stubbs as its next head football coach.

Stubbs, who spent the last three years as offensive coordination at Central Missouri, will take over for the fired Jay Thomas following a 3-8 mark by the Colonels last season.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to be here at Nicholls, and I am ready to face the challenges ahead. We have a lot to do in a little amount of time, and one of those things is to get to know all of my returning players. I'm looking forward to meeting those young men," said Stubbs.

Stubbs has spent 22 of his 31 years of coaching in the college ranks, which includes stops in Oregon State (1985-91) and Alabama (1997-2001).
