Scott takes over at Richmond
Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - The University of Richmond named Latrell Scott its new head coach on Tuesday.
Scott, a former Spiders assistant, becomes the 34th head coach in school history and takes over for Mike London.
"Coach Scott will provide great leadership for our football program," said director of athletics Jim Miller. "He is an energetic young coach and proven recruiter who many of our players know and respect."
The 34-year-old spent the 2009 season as receivers coach at Virginia, then 2008 at Tennessee. His tenure as an assistant with Richmond spanned 2005-07, where he served as receivers coach and assistant head coach.
Scott takes the reins for a team which finished this past season at 11-2 under London, which included a Colonial Athletic Association championship and a berth in the FCS playoffs where Richmond fell in the quarterfinals to Appalachian State.
