Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Louisiana Tech used an opportunistic defense and Lennon Creer's 62 rushing yards to post a 24-17 win over the Utah State Aggies in Western Athletic Conference action at Romney Stadium.
Nick Isham was 10-of-22 through the air for the Bulldogs (3-4, 2-1 WAC) for a mere 63 yards. Colby Cameron was 4-of-6 as a passer for 38 yards.
Robert Turbin, who entered the week ranked first in the conference and sixth in the nation with 125.7 ypg on the ground, ran for 81 yards and a touchdown for the Aggies (2-5, 0-2). He also caught three balls for 40 yards. Chuckie Keeton was 16-of-24 through the air for 128 yards.
Creer got LaTech on the board on a three-yard run with 8:22 left in the first quarter.
The Aggies tied the game when Turbin scored from a yard out at the 3:20 mark.
Josh Thompson's 43-yard field goal gave Utah State a 10-7 lead heading into the break.
The Bulldogs moved back in front when Terry Carter picked off a Keeton pass and took it 22 yards to the end zone with 11:36 left in the third quarter.
Keeton atoned for his error with a 29-yard touchdown scamper that put Utah State back in front 17-14 at the 7:41 mark.
The Bulldogs regained the advantage when Hunter Lee scored on an eight-yard run with 10:14 left in the game. Matt Nelson extended the lead with a 24-yard field goal at the 2:46 mark.
USU finished the day with just 166 yards rushing, far below the team's average of 298.8 ypg which had it ranked first in the conference and sixth in the nation.
