Moscow, ID (Sports Network) - Hunter Lee rushed for 134 yards and Louisiana Tech's defense created three turnovers en route to a 24-11 victory over Idaho at the Kibbie Dome.
Nick Isham completed 25-of-39 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown for Louisiana Tech (2-4, 1-1 WAC), which posted 353 yards of total offense. Lee rushed for a career-high 28 times.
Idaho (1-5, 0-2) was led by quarterback Brian Reader, who finished 19-of-47 for 244 yards and three interceptions on a night when the Vandals generated just 291 yards of total offense. Idaho had just 47 yards rushing at a clip of 2.1 yards per carry.
After a scoreless first quarter, Matt Nelson gave Louisiana Tech a 3-0 lead with a 23-yard field goal to open the second quarter. The Idaho defense got the Vandals on the board a little over two minutes later when it stopped running back Lennon Creer for a one-yard loss in the Louisiana Tech end zone for a safety.
The Bulldogs took a 10-2 lead after Jay Dudley intercepted a Brian Reader pass and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown with 4:47 remaining in the first half.
Idaho trimmed the lead to five just over a minute later after Trey Farquhar hit a 43-yard field goal.
Louisiana Tech separated itself in the third quarter, courtesy of a six-yard touchdown pass from Isham to David Gru at the 6:19 mark of the stanza. Isham found pay-dirt with five second remaining in the quarter, scoring on a one-yard rush that capped a six-play, 40-yard drive and pushed the Bulldogs' lead to 24-5.
Justin Veltung gave Idaho its highlight of the night with 3:35 remaining in the game, racing 81 yards on a punt return for a touchdown to cut the deficit to 24-11. Reader's pass fell incomplete on the two-point conversion try.
Louisiana Tech was 3-of-16 on third down, while Idaho finished just 2-of-16.
