Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Brynn Harvey ran for 180 yards on 30 carries to lead the UCF Knights to a 16-6 victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Conference USA clash at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
Jeff Godfrey paced the Knights (3-2, 1-0 C-USA) under center, completing 13- of-22 pass attempts for 147 yards and a touchdown in the win, which snapped a two-game UCF skid.
Rakeem Cato threw for just 87 yards, completing 11-of-29 pass attempts in the loss for Marshall (2-4, 1-1), which amassed a mere 130 yards of total offense during the meeting.
A five-yard toss from Godfrey to A.J. Guyton gave the Knights a 7-0 lead early in the opening period of play.
The Knights made it 14-0 late in the frame following a four-yard run by Latavius Murray.
Midway through the second frame, a team safety gave the Knights a 16-0 edge.
The Thundering Herd finally got on the board late in the third quarter with a 12-yard fumble return by Rashad Jackson. The score proved to be too little too late however, as the Knights held on for the 16-6 win.
UCF dominated the time of possession, holding the ball for 40:14, compared to Marshall's 19:46.
