Final Score: Florida State 38, Boston College 7
Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - E.J. Manuel threw for 180 yards and a touchdown to lead the Florida State Seminoles to a 38-7 victory over the Boston College Eagles at Alumni Stadium.
Devonta Freeman ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries, while Manuel added 37 rushing yards and a score for the Seminoles (6-3, 4-2 ACC), who have won four straight following a three-game slide.
Chase Rettig completed 11-of-18 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown against an interception for the Eagles (2-7, 1-5), who have dropped four of five.
Rolandan Finch ran for 59 yards but fumbled twice against the stifling FSU defense.
Finch's first fumble came deep in his own territory in the first quarter.
Florida State's Telvin Smith recovered at the two-yard line and Manuel capitalized with a touchdown pass to Bert Reed.
The Seminoles did not look back, scoring three consecutive second-quarter touchdowns to carry a 28-0 lead into the half.
Freeman's 12-yard rushing touchdown made it 14-0 early in the second.
Following a BC punt, Manuel hit Nick O'Leary for a 58-yard gain. Freeman's 11- yard burst placed the ball at the goal line and Manuel plunged across two plays later for a 21-0 advantage.
Another BC punt preceded a nine-play, 57-yard FSU drive. Freeman carried the ball five times during the march and reached the end zone from three yards out to make it 28-0.
The Seminoles' defense, which blanked NC State last Saturday, continued its stellar play, forcing a goal line fumble by Finch towards the end of the half and allowing only Bobby Swigert's 12-yard touchdown reception after the break.
Additionally, Smith and Bjoern Werner both had a second-half interception for FSU.
Dustin Hopkins' 47-yard field goal and Lonnie Pryor's one-yard touchdown run capped the scoring for the Seminoles.
