The Boilermakers exploded in the first quarter, scoring 24 straight points, beginning with a two-run touchdown run by Bolden.
That score was followed by an impressive 53-yard field goal by Carson Wiggs. Shavers' one-yard run gave Purdue a 17-0 edge and less than two minutes later Ricardo Allen's 37-yard interception return added seven more points for the Boilermakers.
Purdue continued its onslaught in the second frame, as Robert Marve connected with O.J. Ross for a 12-yard scoring strike.
Minnesota finally got on the board late in the half, as Chris Hawthrone drilled a 47-yard kick. However, the Golden Gophers went in the break on the wrong end of a lop-sided 31-3 score.
The Boilermakers came out of the break swinging, as Shavers found the end zone again, but this time he was on the receiving end of a 10-yard pass from TerBush.
Purdue's lead ballooned to 45-3 in the final minute of the third quarter thanks to a 25-yard touchdown scamper by Mostert.
The most electrifying play for Minnesota came on the ensuing kick off, as Marcus Jones took the kick 92 yards to pay dirt.
Gray added a one-yard touchdown run midway through the final quarter, but the Golden Gophers were unable to climb out of their enormous hole and eventually lost to Purdue by a 28-point margin.
