Final Score: Washington 38, Washington State 21
Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Keith Price threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Washington Huskies to a 38-21 decision over the Washington State Cougars in the 104th battle for the Apple Cup.
Chris Polk led the charge on the ground for Washington (7-5, 5-4 Pac12), as he rumbled for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Marshall Lobbestael threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns for Washington State (4-8, 2-7), but he also tossed an interception and was sacked seven times.
The scoring began with a block punt by Washington, as the ball was scooped up by Jesse Callier on the two-yard line and he found the end zone, giving the Huskies a 7-0 edge.
That lead grew to 14-0 late in the opening quarter, as Price connected with Kasen Williams for a 16-yard scoring strike.
Midway through the second stanza the Cougars cut their deficit to 14-7 when Lobbestael connected with Jared Karstetter for a 16-yard scoring strike.
Washington State was able to tie the game minutes later when Lobbestael found Marquess Wilson for a 16-yard touchdown pass.
However, the Huskies went into the break with a 21-14 advantage, thanks to a 21 yard hook up between Price and Williams in the final seconds of the first half.
Polk's 22-yard touchdown scamper midway through the third quarter extended Washington's lead to 28-14.
However, less than two minutes later the Cougars clawed back to within one touchdown, as Lobbestael hit Wilson for a 38-yard scoring strike.
The final frame was dominated by the Huskies, as Erik Folk drilled a 46-yard field goal and that was followed by a one-yard touchdown run by Polk, which was the final score of the contest.
