Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) - Nick Foles threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns as the Arizona Wildcats downed the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 45-37, in non-conference action at Arizona Stadium.
Foles was 33-of-43 through the air for the Wildcats (4-8) with one interception. Juron Criner caught nine balls for 129 yards and two touchdowns. David Douglas also caught nine balls and made it into the end zone once. Keola Antolin ran for 69 yards on 19 carries and scored a touchdown.
Blaine Gautier was 24-of-36 through the air for the Ragin' Cajuns (8-4) for 315 yards and a score. Javone Lawson caught five balls for 137 yards.
Louisiana scored first when Harry Peoples reached the end zone on an 11-yard burst with 9:18 left in the opening quarter.
Arizona tied the game when Taimi Tutogi scored from a yard out three seconds into the second quarter.
Louisiana regained the lead when Gautier found Alonzo Harris with a four-yard scoring throw to put his team up 13-7 after a failed PAT with 9:14 left in the first half.
Foles found Criner on a nine-yard touchdown connection exactly six minutes later before hitting Douglas with a 12-yard TD throw with just 34 seconds remaining in the first half to put the Wildcats up 21-13 at the break.
Douglas extended the Wildcats' lead on a seven-yard touchdown run with 7:46 left in the third quarter.
Louisiana picked up its first points of the second half when Brett Baer booted a 20-yard field goal with 5:21 left in the period.
John Bonano responded with a 39-yard effort of his own to extend Arizona's lead to 31-16 with 3:22 remaining.
The Ragin' Cajuns got closer when Jemarlou Moten returned an interception 41 yards for a score with 13:47 left in the game, but after a long kickoff return Antolin scored from seven yards out at the 13:28 mark.
Harris scored his second touchdown of the game, a five-yard run, with 10:26 left to cut the Wildcats' lead to 38-30.
Foles hooked up with Criner for the second time on a 35-yard TD pass with 6:08 remaining, before Gautier ran 10 yards for a score at the 5:05 mark.
The two teams accumulated 902 yards in total offense, although Louisiana didn't help itself by being penalized 10 times for 106 yards.
Saturday marked the last game for Tim Kish as interim head coach of the Wildcats. Rich Rodriguez has been hired to replace him.
