NCAA Game Summary - Vanderbilt at Tennessee

Knoxville, TN (Sports Network) - Eric Gordon returned an interception 90 yards in overtime to cap off a wild finish, as Tennessee topped Vanderbilt in overtime, 27-21 in SEC action at Neyland Stadium.

The Volunteers (5-6, 1-6 SEC) racked up just 290 yards of total offense in their first SEC win of the season, led by quarterback Tyler Bray's 189 yards passing and two TDs. Both scores went to Da'Rick Rogers, who finished with 10 catches, for 116 yards. Tailback Tauren Poole added 107 yards rushing and one TD on 19 carries for Tennessee.

Jordan Rodgers completed 17-of-32 passes, for 193 yards and one TD for Vanderbilt (5-6, 2-6) in defeat, with three costly turnovers, including the decisive one in overtime. Zac Stacy led the way on the ground for the Commodores with 61 yards and one TD, but Vanderbilt managed just 283 yards of offense.

Poole provided the first score of the game, giving Tennessee a 7-0 lead with a one-yard TD run at the 9:02 mark of the first quarter.

Vanderbilt tied things up early in the second quarter, taking advantage of a Bray interception and giving the Commodores the ball on the six-yard line. One play later, Stacy took it into the end zone.

Tennessee jumped back out in front five minutes later on a 17-yard TD pass from Bray to Rogers.

Vanderbilt tied things up again, this time with a 100-yard interception return by A Barnes for a touchdown, thwarting a Tennessee potential scoring drive at the 5:29 mark of the third quarter. Vanderbilt took its first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter with a 20-yard pass from Rodgers to C Boyd.

Bray found Rogers from two yards out at the 6:27 mark of the fourth quarter to tie the game back up. Regulation ended with the score 21-21, setting up the wild finish in overtime.

Tennessee won the coin toss and elected to play defense. On 3rd-and-6 from the UT 11-yard line, Rodgers was picked off by Gordon, who ran 90 yards to the end zone. Following an official review of the play, it was ruled a touchdown, giving the Volunteers the exciting 27-21 victory.
