On the ensuing drive, Lindley hooked up with Sampson for a 56-yard scoring strike to put SDSU on top, 13-10.
But the Cowboys responded with a touchdown drive of their own, as Carta- Samuels found David Leonard for a 13-yard touchdown pass to reclaim the lead.
The seesaw battle continued, as the Aztecs put together a nine-play, 80-yard drive to close out the first half with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Lindley to D.J. Shields.
SDSU struck first in the second half, when Sullivan found the end zone on a one-yard run to put the Aztecs on top, 27-17 with 7:35 to play in the third quarter.
Four minutes later, Wyoming answered with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Carta- Samuels to Leonard, cutting the deficit to 27-24.
But SDSU began to pull away with a couple of fourth-quarter touchdown runs by Sullivan. The first came after a 10-play, 71-yard drive to push the lead back to 34-24.
On the next possession, SDSU's Andrew Preston intercepted Carta-Samuels and returned it to the Wyoming 9. Three plays later, Sullivan notched his third touchdown run to make it a 41-24 game with 12:26 to play.
But the Cowboys weren't ready to go away, as they marched right back down the field and scored on a 20-yard run by Carta-Samuels with 9:59 remaining.
Wyoming trimmed the margin to 41-38 when Alvester Alexander crossed the goal line on a 17-yard run with 7:32 to play.
However, SDSU responded with a five-play, 80-yard drive, capped by Lindley's back-breaking 59-yard touchdown pass to Sampson to push the lead back to 10. This time, the Cowboys weren't able to answer.
