Honolulu, HI (Sports Network) - Bryant Moniz passed for 532 yards and four touchdowns as the Hawaii Warriors defeated the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 41-21, in a Western Athletic Conference battle.
Kealoha Pilares recorded a school-record 18 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns for Hawaii (3-2, 1-0 WAC). Greg Salas, who previously held the program record with 16 catches in one contest, finished Saturday's tilt with 10 grabs for 197 yards and two scores.
Ross Jenkins threw two touchdown passes in defeat for Louisiana Tech (1-4, 0-1).
Hawaii led 10-0 after one quarter of play, thanks to a 36-yard Scott Enos field goal and a 27-yard touchdown run by Chizzy Dimude.
In the second quarter, the Warriors pushed their lead to 24-0 with a pair of Moniz touchdown passes to Pilares covering seven and 66 yards.
Louisiana Tech finally got on the board with just under three minutes left in the first half, as Jenkins tossed a 32-yard touchdown pass to Richie Casey.
The Bulldogs cut their deficit to 24-14 early in the third quarter, as Ray Holley plunged into the end zone from a yard out, capping an 11-play drive.
Hawaii made the score 31-14 with nine-and-a-half minutes left in that third frame, as Moniz hit Salas for a 19-yard score. The Warriors then added three more points with a 24-yard field goal by Enos.
Louisiana Tech made the score 34-21 with an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jenkins to Tim Molton with just over two minutes left in the third quarter.
With just over seven minutes left in the final quarter, Hawaii put the game away with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Moniz to Salas.
Moniz fell short of Colt Brennan's school record of 559 passing yards in one game.
