Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Bryan Ellis threw a successful two-point conversion pass to Jeffery Anderson in double-overtime to lift the UAB Blazers to a thrilling 50-49 victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in a Conference USA tilt.

UAB led 35-21 midway through the fourth quarter, but Southern Miss managed to force overtime thanks to some late heroics from Davis. The quarterback ran for a score with 5:32 remaining in regulation and then threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Bolden with 28 seconds left on the clock.
In the first overtime period, Ellis put UAB ahead by seven points with a two- yard touchdown pass to Jones, but Davis answered on Southern Miss' possession with a seven-yard scoring strike to Quentin Pierce.
The Golden Eagles got the ball first in double-overtime, and Desmond Johnson plunged into the end zone from two yards out to give his squad a 49-42 advantage.
Shed made the score 49-48 with a 13-yard touchdown run for UAB, and rather than kick the extra point to force a third overtime, the Blazers rolled the dice and were rewarded with the game-winning two-point conversion.
UAB opened the scoring in the contest, as Ellis tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jones to give the Blazers a 7-0 edge.
The only points scored by Southern Miss in the opening stanza came on a 54- yard field goal by Danny Hrapmann.
Hrapmann booted a 24-yard field goal with 10:58 remaining in the second stanza, and the Golden Eagles trailed 7-6 at that point.

Early in the third quarter, Southern Miss tied the score at 14-14 on a 25-yard touchdown run by Kendrick Hardy and a successful two-point conversion.

The Blazers dominated the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter, as a three-yard touchdown run by Shed and a one-yard touchdown run by Ellis gave the team a 35-21 lead.
