NCAA Game Summary - Middle Tennessee at Louisiana

Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Phillip Tanner ran for 104 yards and one touchdown as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders defeated the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 34-14 in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at Cajun Field.

Middle Tennessee (2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) also received 84 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just five carries from D.D. Kyles. Quarterback Logan Kilgore threw for 207 yards on 21-of-36 passing for one touchdown and one interception on the night.

Quarterback Chris Masson led the way for Louisiana (1-2, 1-1 Sun Belt), connecting on 16-of-32 pass attempts for 192 yards and one touchdown.

Kicker Alan Gendreau connected on a 40-yard field goal to put the Blue Raiders up 3-0 in the opening quarter.

The score would stay that way into the second quarter until Kyles rushed for an eight-yard touchdown to give the Blue Raiders a 10-0 lead.

Louisiana would respond with a 70-yard drive, capped off by a three-yard touchdown pass from Chris Masson to Ladarius Green.

The Blue Raiders would strike on their next possession, taking a 17-7 lead after a 26-yard touchdown run by Tanner.

After an interception by Dwight Bentley, the Ragin' Cajuns were able to march the ball 31 yards in six plays for a touchdown, capped by a two-yard rush by Blaine Gautier.

Middle Tennessee received another field goal from Gendreau before the half expired, this time from 55-yards out, as the Blue Raiders took a 20-14 advantage into the intermission.

Middle Tennessee struck first in the second half when Kilgore connected with Malcolm Beyah for a 62-yard touchdown pass.

Kyles would then run for a 74-yard touchdown with just over a minute remaining in the third quarter as the Blue Raiders now held a comfortable 34-14 advantage.

The scoring would end there, as neither team was able to put up any points in the final quarter.
