NCAA Game Summary - F-I-U at Louisiana

Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Darriet Perry scored three touchdowns as the FIU Golden Panthers downed the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 38-17, in a Sun Belt Conference clash.

Perry picked up 77 rushing yards on 20 carries, while Wesley Carroll was 16- of-19 through the air for the Golden Panthers (5-5, 4-2 Sun Belt) for 162 yards and a touchdown.

Blaine Gautier had a huge night for the Ragin' Cajuns (2-9, 2-5), who have lost seven straight. He ran for 112 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, and was 13-of-29 through the air for 186 yards and a score. He was sacked seven times.

FIU got on the board when Wesley Carroll hit Jon Faucher with a six-yard touchdown pass with 11:30 left in the first half.

The Ragin Cajuns picked up their first points on Brett Baer's 25-yard field goal with 7:20 left until halftime.

The Golden Panthers extended their lead when Perry scored on a five-yard run with 13:50 left in the third quarter.

Jack Griffin added a 25-yard field goal to give the Golden Panthers a 17-3 lead with 9:47 left in the period.

Louisiana got on a big play when Gautier hit Ladarius Green with a 50-yard touchdown pass at the 8:36 mark.

FIU scored on a turnover when Junior Mertile picked off a Gautier pass and returned it 26 yards to the end zone with 4:05 remaining.

Gautier responded exactly one minute later with a 55-yard touchdown run to cut the Golden Panthers' lead to 24-17.

Perry put the game out of reach for FIU with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, the first from three yards out with 5:52 left in the game and a seven-yard burst exactly two minutes later.

FIU was 6-of-12 on third-down conversions and scored all five times it reached the red zone.
