Toledo, OH (Sports Network) - Adonis Thomas ran for 130 yards and a touchdown to pace the Toledo Rockets in a 31-24 victory over the Ball State Cardinals in a Mid-American Conference battle at the Glass Bowl.
Quarterback Austin Dantin added 58 yards and two scores on the ground for Toledo (5-3, 4-0 MAC), while also throwing for 197 yards and score on 14-of-18 pass attempts. His main target was Eric Page, who pulled in seven balls for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Keith Wenning led the way for BSU (2-6, 1-3) with 224 yards and three touchdown on 19-of-39 tosses. He, however, was also picked three times. Jack Tomlinson was his primary outlet with five receptions for 89 yards and two scores.
The Cardinals jumped all over Toledo early on, scoring the first 17 points of the game. Ian McGarvey began things with a 35-yard field goal before Wenning threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Tomlinson. The duo hooked up once more later in the first quarter, this time from four yards out.
Toledo responded in the second quarter with 17-unanswered points of its own. Page kicked off the run with 46-yard touchdown pass from Dantin, who then plunged one yard for a score. Bill Claus nailed a 25-yard field goal on the last play to tie the score at the break.
The Rockets took their first lead just seconds into the third quarter courtesy of a 35-yard touchdown run by Thomas.
Midway through the final quarter, Dantin gave Toledo a 31-17 advantage with a four-yard touchdown run.
Wenning threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Torieal Gibson with 12 seconds left to make the final score 31-24.
