Oxford, OH (Sports Network) - Ohio rushed for 222 yards as a team and scored five touchdowns on the ground, and that was enough for the Bobcats to claim a 34-13 victory over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks in Mid-American Conference action at Yager Stadium.
Vince Davidson led the way with 103 yards and also scored a touchdown for Ohio (5-3, 4-1 MAC), while Donte Harden, who scored twice, finished with 62 rushing yards. Quarterback Boo Jackson only threw for 149 yards, but did score two rushing touchdowns in the win.
Zac Dysert threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns for Miami-Ohio (4-4, 3-1), but the signal caller also tossed four interceptions in the setback. Nick Harwell had a huge showing in the setback, finishing the game with 219 yards on 11 receptions.
The RedHawks found the end zone on their first drive, as Dysert connected with Armand Robinson for a 15-yard scoring strike, capping off a nine-play, 80-yard drive.
Ohio responded later in the opening frame when Davidson broke free for a 56- yard touchdown run.
The Bobcats pounced on the lead early in the second stanza when Harden plunged into the end zone from the three yard line. However, the extra point was missed by Matt Weller, leaving the score at 13-7.
Ohio needed only one play early in the third quarter to take a 20-7 lead, as Harden broke free for a 48-yard touchdown scamper.
The Bobcats continued to pull away in the third stanza, as Jackson's one-yard touchdown score capped off a healthy 14-play, 85-yard drive.
Early in the final frame Dysert connected with Thomas Merriweather for a 14- yard touchdown pass, cutting Miami-Ohio's deficit to 27-13.
However, Jackson's two-yard touchdown plunge late in the fourth quarter sealed the 21-point victory for Ohio.
