Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - The Louisville Cardinals had a big day on special teams, as they blanked the Connecticut Huskies, 26-0, in Big East play at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

All of Louisville's points came courtesy of strong special teams plays. Kicker Chris Philpott accounted for a majority of those points himself, booting four field goals along with two extra points.

Adam Froman was 18-of-30 through the air for 195 yards and a touchdown that was set up when the Huskies fumbled a punt return. Doug Beaumont scored Louisville's (4-3, 1-1 Big East) other touchdown on a 74-yard punt return. Bilal Powell ran for 105 yards on 27 carries in the victory.

Jordan Todman ran for 80 yards on 19 carries for the Huskies (3-4, 0-2). Two Connecticut quarterbacks, Michael Box and Zach Frazer, were a combined 10- of-20 through the air for just 87 yards.

The Cardinals got on the board in the opening minute of the second quarter after the Huskies fumbled a punt to give them the ball in the red zone. Cameron Graham caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Froman to put Louisville in front.

Louisville extended its lead to 10-0 when Philpott booted a 39-yard field goal with seven minutes left in the half. He added a 42-yard kick with 36 seconds remaining until intermission.

The Cardinals added to their lead when Beaumont took a punt to the end zone a minute into the third quarter.

Philpott hit a 26-yard field goal eight minutes later. His fourth field goal of the afternoon, this one from 24 yards, made it a 26-0 game two minutes into the final quarter.
