Final Score: (3) Boise State 51, Wyoming 6
Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Kellen Moore was an efficient 20-of-30 for 370 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes as No. 3 Boise State walloped Wyoming, 51-6, at War Memorial Stadium.
Doug Martin rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown while D.J. Harper added a rushing score and 59 yards. Titus Young and Austin Pettis caught the touchdowns for the Broncos (2-0), who racked up a whopping 648 yards of offense in their first game since pulling out a 33-30 victory over then 10th- ranked Virginia Tech two weeks ago.
Austyn Carta-Samuels had a touchdown and 156 yards through the air on 12-of-21 attempts with two picks. The Cowboys (1-2) were held to just 135 yards of offense and were minus-21 in the rushing department.
"Boise State looked the part of a top-ranked team. They were everything they were built up to be," remarked Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen. "They played hard every single snap, have good players and executed their game plan."
Boise State went on the attack right from the get-go and never looked back in building a 37-0 lead shortly into the third quarter.
It started with a 24-yard field goal from Kyle Brotzman, and a fumble recovery by Shea McClellin in the end zone on a sack of Carta-Samuels yielded a 10-0 score.
The Broncos were back in the end zone minutes later on Moore's 58-yard pass to Pettis.
A 13-play, 85-yard romp on BSU's next series stretched into the second quarter and ended a little more than a minute in on Martin's seven-yard score for a 24-0 game.
Four plays later, after a Wyoming three-and-out, Moore sailed a 49-yard TD pass to Young to make it 31-0 in a mere nine seconds.
"The kids did a great job preparing; they took this team very serious," said Boise State head coach Chris Petersen. "Our team came out with great energy and great emotion and I'm pleased with how hard they played. "They know this is a tough place to play and they came out ready to play."
It was more of the same in the second half. Brotzman struck from 38 yards away early in the third before the Cowboys got on the board with their lone points -- a 35-yard TD pass from Carta-Samuels to Greg Saydjari. Ian Watts missed the extra point.
BSU came right back with a back-breaking 13-play, 81-yard scoring drive capped by Harper's two-yard TD to make it a 44-6 affair.
Jarvis Hodge ran for an 11-yard touchdown for the fourth quarter's lone tally.
