College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Jerrod Johnson threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns as he led the Texas A&M Aggies to a 48-16 romp over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in non-conference play at Kyle Field.
Johnson converted 25-of-38 passing for the Aggies (2-0), with Jeff Fuller being his favorite target with 10 catches for 160 yards and a score. Christine Michael ran for a game-high 107 yards on 14 attempts for the home team.
Leading the way for the LaTech (1-1) offense was Tarik Hakmi who converted 6- of-8 passing for 91 yards and a touchdown and also registered a TD on the ground in the setback.
The Bulldogs led off the night's scoring with a 37-yard field goal by Matt Nelson.
Late in the first quarter Cyrus Gray hit the end zone on a three-yard run for A&M, followed by a 10-yard scoring strike between Johnson and Ryan Tannehill early in the second frame to make the score 14-3.
Hakmi drew LaTech closer with a one-yard TD run at the 4:32 mark of the second period, but at the end of the first half Johnson hooked up with Uzoma Nwachukwu on a 44-yard TD to make the score 21-10 at the break.
Johnson's three-yard touchdown pass to Fuller to open the scoring in the second half, combined with a 40-yard field goal by Randy Bullock, pushed the advantage to 31-10.
The final points of the night for the Bulldogs came courtesy of Hakmi and Eric Harper who combined on a 35-yard scoring pass play to cut the deficit to 31-16 after a failed PAT.
A&M closed out the contest with a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown by Dustin Harris, a one-yard scoring pass between Johnson and Nwachukwu, and a 22-yard field goal from Bullock to make the score 48-16 once the smoke cleared.
LaTech ran 81 offensive plays on the night, but its 269 yards of total offense was dwarfed by the 565 yards produced by Texas A&M.
