NCAA Game Summary - San Jose State at Louisiana Tech

Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Daniel Porter rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns to power the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 55-20 romp over the San Jose State Spartans in Western Athletic Conference action.

Ross Jenkins passed for 165 yards and one touchdown for Louisiana Tech (4-8, 3-5 WAC).

Kyle Reed threw for 102 yards and two touchdowns in defeat for San Jose State (2-10, 1-7).

San Jose State opened the scoring with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Reed to Marquis Avery early in the first quarter.

Midway through the opening stanza, the Bulldogs tied the game at 7-7 with an eight-yard touchdown run by Porter.

The Spartans regained the lead with 3:17 remaining in the first quarter, as Reed tossed a two-yard score to Jala Beauchman.

Less than two minutes later, Tech tied it back up on a 39-yard Porter touchdown scamper.

The Bulldogs carried momentum into the second quarter, scoring four unanswered touchdowns and a field goal in the period. D.J. Morrow threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Dennis Morris, and Deon Young returned an interception 55 yards for a score. Jenkins then threw a 38-yard scoring strike to Lyle Fitte, and Porter reached the end zone on a three-yard run with less than three minutes to play until halftime. Finally, Matt Nelson booted a 39-yard field goal as time expired to give Tech a commanding 45-14 halftime advantage.

With just under nine minutes remaining in the third quarter, San Jose State got an 80-yard touchdown pass from Jordan La Secla to Avery. The ensuing two- point conversion attempt failed, making the score 45-20.

Nelson kicked a 32-yard field goal for the Bulldogs with just under two minutes remaining in the third stanza, pushing Tech's advantage to 48-20.

The only points of the fourth quarter came on a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown by Tank Calais, bringing the score to its final of 55-20.

This game was the last for Dick Tomey as a college football coach, as he will not be back to lead San Jose State next season.
