Mount Pleasant, MI (Sports Network) - Senior quarterback Dan LeFevour threw a pair of touchdowns and tied a career high with four rushing TDs, as Central Michigan dominated Toledo, 56-28.
LeFevour completed 29-of-36 passes for 341 yards and rushed for 19 yards on 14 carries for the Chippewas (8-2, 6-0 MAC), who bounced back from a 31-10 loss at Boston College on October 31. LeFevour also rushed for four TDs against Army on October 13, 2007.
Bryan Schroeder rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. He also caught three passes for 32 yards. Antonio Brown led the receiving corps with 13 catches for 129 yards and a score. Bryan Anderson hauled in four passes for 67 yards and a touchdown for Central Michigan, which has won five in a row versus Toledo.
DaJuane Collins rushed for 40 yards and two scores on 15 carries for the Rockets (4-6, 2-4), who have lost three straight games and four of their last five.
Aaron Opelt connected on 14-of-22 passes for 128 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions before leaving the contest in the third quarter after aggravating a right shoulder injury. Austin Dantin took over the QB duties and completed 6-of-9 passes for 91 yards and an interception.
Kenny Stafford had a TD catch, while Morgan Williams rushed for 31 yards and a score on nine carries in defeat.
Toledo took the early lead with a touchdown on the opening possession of the game as Stafford hauled in a 14-yard TD catch on 3rd-and-10.
Central Michigan responded with a touchdown of its own. On the sixth play of a 69-yard drive, Anderson was on the receiving end of a 33-yard touchdown to tie things up with under nine minutes to go in the first.
The Rockets then bridged the first and second quarters with a nine-play, 54- yard scoring drive. Collins capped the march by rushing into the end zone from one yard out on 4th-and-goal to give Toledo a 14-7 margin.
It was all CMU from there. LeFevour's two-yard TD run on a quarterback draw tied the score at 14 with 11:43 left until half. The Chippewas then intercepted an Opelt pass, and seven plays later LeFevour rushed into the end zone from two yards out to make it 21-14.
Central Michigan then put together an impressive seven-play, 97-yard drive on its next possession. Schroeder topped off the march with a four-yard rushing touchdown.
After CMU recovered a fumble, LeFevour ended a 22-yard drive with a two-yard rushing TD for a commanding 35-14 lead at the half.
LeFevour's fourth and final two-yard rushing score of the game, followed by a 42-yard TD pass to Brown in the third period made it 49-14.
Schroeder's six-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth made it a 56-14 game. Collins and Williams added rushing scores to account for the final margin.
