Final Score: Troy 48, UL-Lafayette 31

Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Levi Brown threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns as the Troy Trojans posted a resounding 48-31 win over the Ragin' Cajuns of UL-Lafayette in Sun Belt Conference play at Cajun Field.

Brown converted 20-of-31 passes and survived three sacks on the evening for the Trojans (9-3, 8-0 SBC) as they remained undefeated in conference play. Shawn Southward added to the offense with his 15 carries for 152 yards and two touchdowns as well.

The Ragin' Cajuns (6-6, 4-4) were paced by quarterbacks Chris Masson, Blaine Gautier and Brad McGuire who combined to hit on 30-of-50 passes for 415 yards and four touchdowns in the setback.

Troy opened the contest with 24 unanswered points, beginning with a three-yard TD run by Southward, the running back capping the scoring run early in the second quarter with a 23-yard TD run as well. In between there was a 17-yard TD pass from Brown to Jason Bruce and a 31-yard field goal by Michael Taylor.

Before the first half could end, the Ragin' Cajuns made some noise with a couple touchdowns of their own, starting with a six-yard TD run by McGuire and ending with a 57-yard scoring strike from Masson to Luke Aubrey, although a failed PAT after the second score left UL-Lafayette with a 24-13 deficit at the break.

The Ragin' Cajuns began the second half just as they finished the first, as McGuire threw touchdown passes of one and 91 yards to Ladarius Green to make the score 25-24 in favor of the home team heading into the fourth period after ULLA again failed to convert a PAT and a two-point attempt.

Green finished the night with five catches for 119 yards and the two TDs.

The next scoring run came from the Trojans as Taylor's 26-yard field goal gave the team back the lead at 27-25 and touchdown passes for 14 and 26 yards to Tebarius Gill and Jerrel Jernigan, respectively.

A last gasp by the Ragin' Cajuns came in the form of a nine-yard TD pass play between Gautier and Vernon Wolfe, but once again the two-point conversion failed, leaving the home team with a 41-31 deficit.

The ensuing kickoff provided the final scoring of the night for Troy as Bryan Willis returned the kick 38 yards for the score.

Running a total of 87 offensive plays, the Ragin' Cajuns generated 563 yards of total offense, but countless miscues after touchdowns cost the team dearly.
