NCAA Game Summary - North Texas at Arkansas State

Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Ryan Aplin used his legs as well as his arm to lead the Arkansas State Red Wolves to a 30-26 win over the North Texas Mean Green in a Sun Belt game.

Aplin ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns and also threw for 240 yards after going 18-of-28 through the air. He, however, was also intercepted three times. Brandon Thompkins caught seven passes for 91 yards for the Red Wolves (3-8, 2-5 SBC), while Reggie Arnold ran for 111 yards and a score on 23 carries.

Lance Dunbar ran for 126 yards and a touchdown for North Texas (2-10, 1-7). Jamaal Jackson caught five balls for 69 yards and a touchdown, while Alex Lott also reeled in five passes for 25 yards and a score.

The Red Wolves opened the scoring at the 10:59 mark of the first quarter when Don Jones ran 14 yards for a touchdown.

Aplin put Arkansas State up 14-0 on a six-yard burst with 4:09 left in the opening period. He added a 10-yard run 27 seconds into the second quarter to give his team a 21-0 advantage.

Reggie Arnold extended the Red Wolves' lead to 27-0 with a seven-yard run with 9:57 left in the first half.

North Texas got on the scoreboard on Dunbar's 36-yard run with 1:49 to go before intermission to make it a 27-7 game at halftime.

The Mean Green drew closer on Kevin Dickerson's 25-yard run with 8:38 left in the third quarter.

Josh Arauco answered for Arkansas State with a 33-yard field goal with :07 seconds left in the period to make it a 30-7 game.

North Texas scored twice in the fourth quarter, on a five-yard pass from Nathan Tune to Lott with 8:17 left and Jackson's 19-yard touchdown reception with 1:25 remaining in the game.

Arkansas State piled up 484 yards in total offense, including 244 on the ground.
