Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Levi Brown threw a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, as the Troy Trojans captured a 30-27 win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in Sun Belt Conference play at ASU Stadium.
Brown converted 33-of-46 passing for 355 yards for the Trojans (2-2, 1-0 SBC) as they won their second straight game after being outscored in the first two outings of the seaosn by a combined 87-20 versus Bowling Green and top-ranked Florida.
The Red Wolves (1-2, 0-1) were paced by Reggie Arnold who gained 32 yards rushing and made it into the end zone twice for the home team. Corey Leonard converted 12-of-24 passing for 190 yards and a score as well.
Arkansas State put the first points on the board as Josh Arauco knocked through a 27-yard field goal, followed by a one-yard TD run by Arnold.
From there the Trojans ripped off 23 unanswered points, beginning with a 44- yard field goal by Sam Glusman with 3:05 remaining in the first quarter.
Brown and TeBiarus Gill combined for a six-yard scoring pass, while Glusman converted field goal attempts of 37 and 21 yards. In between those successful kicks, DuJuan Harris hit the end zone from nine yards away, all of which provided Troy with a 23-10 lead early in the third period.
ASU responded with a one-yard TD run by Arnold, followed by a 58-yard scoring strike between Leonard and Brandon Thompkins, while Arauco made good on a 31- yard field goal at the 12:17 mark of the fourth period.
Capping a five-play, 25-yard drive midway through the fourth quarter, Brown and Cornelius Williams combined on an eight-yard TD play to provide the Trojans with the three-point margin of victory.
Troy rattled off 86 offensive plays, compared to just 52 for the Red Wolves, and came up with 507 yards of offense as a result.
