NCAA Game Summary - North Texas at Florida International

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Kendall Berry carried the ball 14 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Florida International Golden Panthers to a 35-28 win over the North Texas Mean Green in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at FIU Stadium.

Paul McCall orchestrated the FIU (3-7, 2-5 SBC) offense, completing 12-of-18 pass attempts for 85 yards and a touchdown.

The Mean Green (2-8, 1-6) were led by Riley Dodge, who completed 28-of-37 pass attempts for 314 yards and a touchdown. Dodge also carried the ball 19 times for 84 yards and a score. Lance Dunbar paced the NTU ground attack, carrying the ball 24 times for 119 yard and two scores.

North Texas took a 7-0 lead on its third play from scrimmage, when Dodge ripped off a 38-yard touchdown run.

The Mean Green got back on the board minutes later when Dunbar scored on a 42-yard touchdown scamper to give his team a 14-0 advantage.

FIU answered back midway through the first quarter with a 35-yard touchdown run from Berry.

Berry tied the game late in the first quarter, when he barreled his way in from the one-yard line to make it a 14-14 contest.

NTU regained the lead early in the second quarter, when Dodge hooked up with Darius Carey from 15-yards out for the score.

The Mean Green extended its lead late in the first half, with a six-yard touchdown run from Dunbar to give NTU a 28-14 lead at the break.

The FIU defense set the tone for the second half, when Peter Riley picked off an errant Dodge pass midway through the third quarter, and returned it 26 yards for the score.

The Golden Panthers tied the game midway through the fourth quarter, when McCall found T.Y. Hilton from three yards out make it a 28-28 contest.

FIU struck again minutes later when Wayne Younger raced 23-yard for a touchdown to give his team a 35-28 victory.

North Texas dominated the contest in every aspect, out gaining FIU 513-258 on the day, but lost the turnover battle losing the football twice in defeat.
