(Saturday, September 26th)

Final Score: NC State 38, Pittsburgh 31

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Russell Wilson threw four touchdown passes to help lead the NC State Wolfpack to a 38-31 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers in non-conference play at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Wilson finished the day converting 21-of-35 passing for the Wolfpack (3-1) for 322 yards, adding another 91 yards on the ground on 10 carries as well.

The Panthers (3-1) were paced by quarterback Bill Stull who converted 12-of-23 for 206 yards and two scores, while Dion Lewis accounted for a game-high 95 yards rushing and two more TDs in the losing effort.

Pittsburgh moved out to a 10-0 advantage less than six minutes into the first quarter as Lewis landed in the end zone on a six-yard run and Dan Hutchins converted a 35-yard field goal for the visitors.

NC State's Taylor Gentry then reeled in a 23-yard scoring strike from Wilson to cut the deficit to 10-7 heading into the second period.

Needing less than two minutes to move 39 yards in five plays, the Panthers responded with a seven-yard TD run by Lewis to make the score 17-7.

Before the half could end, NC State marched 71 yards on 11 plays and capped that drive with a 25-yard field goal by Josh Czajkowski, leaving the home team a 17-10 deficit at the break.

Wilson managed to knot the score early in the third quarter when he and Toney Baker locked up for a 38-yard touchdown.

Refusing to go away, the Panthers posted back-to-back touchdowns, thanks to a 13-yard reception by Cameron Saddler and a 79-yard grab by Jonathan Baldwin to give the visitors a 31-17 advantage with just over four minutes remaining in the third stanza.

From there the game belonged to the Wolfpack as Wilson hit Jarvis Williams with a 33-yard TD strike, found George Bryan with a seven-yard score and then watched Baker hit the end zone from two-yards out with 6:28 remaining for the game-winner.

Pittsburgh, which allowed the home team to roll up 530 yards of total offense, converted just 2-of-10 on third down and controlled the ball for less than 23 minutes on the afternoon.
