Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Blaine Gabbert threw for 414 yards and three touchdowns on 25-of-40 efficiency to lead the Missouri Tigers in a 31-21 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack in a non-conference affair at Mackay Stadium.
Danario Alexander hauled in nine passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers (4-0), who got 72 yards and a TD on eight grabs from Jared Perry. Derrick Washington tallied 75 yards on 16 touches.
Colin Kaepernick totaled 146 yards and a touchdown on 17-of-28 passing and also added 59 yards and a score on 13 carries for the Wolf Pack (0-3), who got 114 yards on 23 carries from Luke Lippincott. Brandon Wimberly racked up 76 yards and a TD on six receptions.
Trailing by a point in the third quarter, Gabbert hit Alexander for a 74- yard scoring strike. The two-point conversion was no good but the Tigers took an 18-13 lead with about 10 1/2 minutes left in the third.
Grant Ressel then hit a 27-yard field goal, Perry hauled in a four-yard TD score and Ressel added a 26-yard kick to make it 31-13 with five minutes left in the game.
Wimberly had a six-yard TD reception late in the game and the Wolf Pack converted the two-point conversion to account for the final margin.
Ressel hit a 22-yard field goal to give Mizzou a 3-0 lead just over four minutes into the game.
Nevada responded as Courtney Randall punched in a two-yard TD run, but Ressel nailed a 31-yard boot to make it 7-6 heading into the second quarter.
Alexander caught a 31-yard TD reception and after the two-point conversion failed it was 12-7 heading to the intermission. Kaepernick's 11-yard TD dash made it 13-12 with 11:07 left in the third.
