Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Andre Dixon ran for 149 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Connecticut Huskies to a 30-22 win over the Baylor Bears in a non-conference affair at Floyd Casey Stadium.
UConn signal-caller Cody Endres completed 12-of-23 pass attempts for 147 yards to pace the Huskies (2-1) in the win, while Jordan Todman added 103 yards on the ground and Isiah Moore grabbed four passes for 76 yards.
Jay Finley gained 121 yards on just eight attempts and scored a touchdown to lead Baylor (1-1) in the losing effort, while Robert Griffin III completed 17- of-26 pass attempts for 119 yards for the Bears. Griffin also scored twice on the ground during the contest.
The Huskies struck first in this one, as Dave Teggart converted a 39-yard field goal early in the opening period of play.
The Bears responded with a 72-yard Finley run less than two minutes later to take a 7-3 lead.
Dixon gave the Huskies back the lead early in the second period with a one- yard plunge.
UConn added a 30-yard Teggart kick midway through the period.
The Huskies took a 20-7 lead early in the third period following a 10-yard Dixon run.
Dixon found the endzone again just minutes later with a one-yard plunge.
A five-yard run by Griffin midway through the period enabled the Bears to pull to within 13.
Teggart added a 34-yard field goal late in the final period of play to pull ahead, 30-14.
Baylor found the endzone once more, as Griffin plunged ahead for one-yard. However, the Bears could come no closer, as UConn held on for the eight-point win.
