Final Score: (14) Oklahoma State 34, Baylor 7
Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Zac Robinson threw for 250 yards with three touchdowns, as 14th-ranked Oklahoma State handled Baylor, 34-7, in a Big 12 matchup.
Robinson completed 23-of-27 attempts, while Keith Toston carried the ball 15 times for 109 yards with a score for Oklahoma State (6-1, 3-0 Big 12), which has won five in a row since dropping a 45-35 decision to Houston on September 12. Cooper Bassett, Wilson Youman and Dameron Fooks each added a TD catch.
Beau Johnson finished with 22 carries and 93 yards rushing, while Hubert Anyiam caught nine passes for 83 yards for OSU.
"Today was a good win for Oklahoma State," head coach Mike Gundy said. "I thought in all three phases our team was very effective. Defensively we were able to contain them and keep them from sustaining any long drives. By doing that it allowed our offense to get back on the field. We were able to have a balanced attack today and we were able to rush the ball effectively and throw the ball effectively."
Nick Florence passed for 235 yards on 21-of-35 efficiency with a touchdown pass and an interception for Baylor (3-4, 0-3), which has lost three straight after winning the previous two contests.
David Gettis, who had four catches for 62 yards, accounted for Baylor's only points with a 17-yard touchdown grab late in the game. Justin Akers had five receptions for 62 yards in defeat.
"It was pretty frustrating but the main thing is that there is no panic," Baylor head coach Art Briles said. "I'm not panicking and our team isn't panicking. We understand that we have another week to play, Lord willing. We'll come out and we'll fight again. It's not like woe is me, it's go is me. We know we have a long way to go and we have a lot of time to get better and we have to take advantage of it because we still have a lot of growing to do as a team."
Dan Bailey's 24-yard field goal early in the opening quarter gave OSU the lead. Patrick Lavine then picked off Florence at the Cowboys 47 on Baylor's first play of its ensuing drive leading to Robinson's 22-yard touchdown pass to Youman and a 10-0 Oklahoma State advantage.
A Robinson-to-Fooks 16-yard hookup with just over five minutes left in the half finished off a seven-play, 80-yard set, increasing the visitors lead to 17.
Ben Parks had a chance to put points on the board on Baylor's next series, but the kicker missed wide left from 41 yards away and it remained 17-0 at the intermission.
OSU continued to pour it on in the early stages of the third as Robinson tossed a 19-yard scoring strike to Bassett. Bailey then tacked on a 33-yard field goal on the final play of the third for a 27-0 advantage. Toston's one- yard score put the finishing touches on a brief seven-play, 54-yard drive with 9 1/2 minutes to play
Florence tossed a 17-yard TD to Gettis with 7:17 left to account for the 34-7 final score.
