Final Score: Nebraska 31, Kansas 17

Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Roy Helu Jr. rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 31-17 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks in Big 12 Conference action.

Niles Paul made four catches for 154 yards for Nebraska (7-3, 4-2 Big 12).

Todd Reesing passed for 236 yards and a touchdown in defeat for Kansas (5-5, 1-5), and the quarterback also ran for a score.

Trailing 17-16 midway through the fourth quarter, Nebraska scored two unanswered touchdowns to claim the win. First, Helu Jr. raced into the end zone from 20 yards out, and the ensuing two-point conversion attempt was successful. Then, the Huskers sealed the victory with a 14-yard Helu Jr. touchdown run.

The only points of the first quarter came on a mistake, as Nebraska's Zac Lee fumbled into the end zone. His teammate, Helu Jr, recovered the ball for a touchdown, giving the Huskers a 7-0 advantage.

Nebraska's lead was stretched to 10-0 with 10:47 remaining in the second quarter on a 25-yard field goal by Alex Henery.

Kansas managed to tie the score at 10-10 by halftime, as a five-yard touchdown run by Reesing was followed by a 33-yard Jacob Branstetter field goal.

The Cornhuskers scored the only points of the third quarter on a 34-yard field goal by Henry, and he then booted a 38-yarder early in the fourth quarter to extend Nebraska's advantage to 16-10.

Kansas grabbed a 17-16 lead midway through the final stanza with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Reesing to Dezmon Briscoe. Unfortunately for the Jayhawks, the Huskers saved their best football for the final seven-and-a-half minutes.

Next up for the Cornhuskers is a meeting against Kansas State next Saturday night for the Big 12 North Division title.
