Boulder, CO (Sports Network) - Rex Burkhead carried the ball 18 times for 100 yards and a score to lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 28-20 win over the Colorado Buffaloes in a Big 12 Conference showdown at Folsom Field.

The Buffaloes (3-9, 2-6) were led by Tyler Hansen, who completed 21-of-44 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns. He, however, was also intercepted three times. Scotty McKnight was Lee's favorite target, hauling in seven passes for 145 yards and two scores. Markques Simas also got involved, making six catches for 108 yards, while Rodney Stewart led the Colorado ground attack with 110 yards on 21 carries.

The Cornhuskers expanded their lead to 14-0 in the opening seconds of the second quarter, as Lee hooked up with Ben Cotton for a 24-yard touchdown strike.
Colorado cut into the deficit late in the first half, when Hansen found Jake Behrens for a two-yard touchdown pass.
Nebraska responded minutes later, as Matt O'Hanlon picked off an errant pass by Hansen and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown to give the Cornhuskers a 21-7 lead at the break.
The Buffaloes made it a 21-14 contest midway through the third quarter, when Hansen and McKnight connected for a six-yard touchdown pass.
The Cornhuskers took a 28-14 advantage midway through the final quarter after Burkhead ripped off a seven-yard touchdown run.
McKnight and Hansen provided a late score, hooking up for a 56-yard touchdown as time expired. It would not be enough, though, as Nebraska went on to capture the 28-20 victory.
Coming into the game Nebraska had already clinched its spot in the Big 12 championship game, where it will face Texas on December 5th.
