NCAA Game Summary - Illinois at Purdue

West Lafayette, IN (Sports Network) - The Purdue Boilermakers continued their resurgence with a 24-14 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini in a Big Ten Conference bout at Ross-Ade Stadium.

It was the second straight win for Purdue, which had lost five in a row prior to stunning nationally-ranked Ohio State 26-18 a week ago.

Ralph Bolden ran for 78 yards and a touchdown for the Boilermakers (3-5, 2-2 Big Ten), who won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Jaycen Taylor added 71 rushing yards and a score. Purdue quarterback Joey Elliott completed 15-of-24 passes for 166 yards and ran for 62 more, adding a rushing touchdown.

Mikel LeShoure ran for 122 yards for the Fighting Illini (1-6, 0-5), which lost its fifth straight. All five setbacks have been by double digits. Juice Williams completed just 9-of-18 passing for 77 yards, was intercepted once and sacked three times on the afternoon.

Illinois opened the scoring when Daniel Dufrene scored on a four-yard run with 6:49 left in the first quarter.

Taylor answered back for the Boilermakers with a 44-yard scoring run at the 4:53 mark.

Bolden extended Purdue's advantage to 14-7 on a three-yard run with 12:21 left in the first half before Elliott scored from five yards out to make it a 21-7 game heading into the break.

The Illini drew closer when Williams ran six yards for a score to cut the Purdue lead to 21-14 with 7:18 left in the third quarter.

Carson Wiggs extended the Boilermakers' lead to 24-14 with a 25-yard field goal at the 1:16 mark of the period.

The Boilermakers played a turnover-free game for the first time this season and ground out 220 rushing yards. Purdue averaged better than six yards per offensive snap.
