NCAA Game Summary - Mississippi State at Vanderbilt

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Sean Brauchle connected on three field goal attempts to lead the Mississippi State Bulldogs to a 15-3 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores in an SEC showdown at Vanderbilt Stadium.

The Bulldogs' (2-1, 1-1 SEC) offense was led by Anthony Dixon who carried the ball 21 times for 123 yards.

Larry Smith led the way for Vanderbilt (1-2, 0-2), completing 12-of-32 pass attempts for 124 yards and one interception.

After a scoreless first quarter, MSU took a 3-0 lead with a 44-yard field goal by Brauchle.

Vanderbilt tied the game minutes later on a 20-yard field goal by Ryan Fowler.

Brauchle put his team back in from late in the first half with a 27-yard kick, giving the Bulldogs a 6-3 advantage.

Again it was Brauchle who extended the MSU lead to 9-3 in the final minute of the third quarter with a 49-yard field goal.

The Bulldogs put the game away in the final minutes of the fourth quarter with a 22-yard touchdown run by Tyson Lee.

MSU relied on its defense in the win, holding the Vanderbilt offense to just 157 total yards, including just 33 yards on the ground.
