Final Score: Wyoming 35, San Diego State 10
Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Devin Moore ran for a game-high 234 yards and three touchdowns as he led the Wyoming Cowboys to a 35-10 win against the San Diego State Aztecs in Mountain West Conference action at War Memorial Stadium.
Moore carried the ball 24 times for the Cowboys (3-6, 1-5 MWC) as they picked up their first conference win of the season and snapped a five-game slide in the process. Quarterback Chris Stutzriem converted 6-of-10 passing for 166 yards and a score as the team stuck to just one signal-caller for the entire afternoon.
The Aztecs (1-8, 0-5) were paced by Ryan Lindley who converted 28-of-52 for 311 yards and a score, but he was also sacked three times in the team's fifth consecutive setback.
SDSU kicked off the scoring in the first quarter when Lane Yoshida booted a 35-yard field goal, capping a 12-play, 43-yard drive.
From there the game belonged to Wyoming as the Pokes ran off 35 unanswered points, beginning with touchdown runs of 35 and two yards for Moore. Brandon Stewart's 69-yard TD reception at the 2:25 mark of the second frame pushed the score to 21-3, while a one-yard dive by Moore made it a 28-3 advantage at the break.
The third quarter saw Wynel Seldon run 14 yards into the end zone for the Cowboys, giving the home team an insurmountable 35-3 lead.
Lindley's 26-yard touchdown pass to Justin Shaw in the final two minutes of the third proved to be too little, too late as the teams went scoreless in the final period of the 25-point decision.
Wyoming exploded for 378 yards rushing and 544 yards of total offense, which is not all that surprising given that the Aztecs entered the week ranked last in the Football Bowl Subdivision in run defense with 292.8 ypg allowed.
