NCAA Game Summary - UL-Monroe at Arkansas State

Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Derek Lawson rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown to lead the Arkansas State Red Wolves to a 37-29 victory over the UL-Monroe Warhawks in a Sun Belt Conference battle at ASU Stadium.

Corey Leonard, who scored a touchdown on the ground for ASU (4-2, 2-0 SBC), completed just 7-of-16 passes for 129 yards in the win. Reggie Arnold added 71 rushing yards on 15 totes in the contest for ASU.

Kinsmon Lancaster threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns for ULM (1-5, 0-2), and also led the ground game with 33 yards. Darrell McNeal finished with eight catches in the loss, while racking up 149 yards and one touchdown.

Jahbari McLennan got the Red Wolves on the scoreboard late in the first quarter with a 63-yard touchdown run.

Less than two minutes, however, the Warhawks evened the score at 7-7 with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Lancaster to McNeal.

Arkansas State posted the first 10 points in the second stanza, as Josh Arauco nailed a 27-yard field goal, which was followed by a two-yard touchdown run by Lawson.

However, after the Lawson touchdown, the ensuing kick off was returned 91 yards by Luther Ambrose, cutting the Warhawks deficit to 17-14.

The Red Wolves continued to put forth a strong offensive display, as Leonard plunged into the end zone from three yards out.

Less than two minutes later ASU added a 26-yard field goal by Arauco, which extended the Red Wolves' lead to 27-14.

Arkansas State's defense got involved in the scoring, as Marcus Brown returned a fumble 71 yards to extend the Red Wolves lead to 34-17.

The scoring continued for ASU as Arauco connected on a 44-yard kick early in the fourth frame.

ULM scored the final 10 points of the contest, as Lancaster hit Frank Goodin with a 25-yard touchdown pass, which was followed by a one yard scoring strike from Lancaster to Zeek Zacharie. However, the Warhawks were too far in the hole, as ASU held on for the eight-point win.
