Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Tyrell Fenroy ran for 128 yards and a touchdown to lead the UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns to a 28-23 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in Sun Belt Conference action.
Brad McGuire added a pair of rushing scores for UL-Lafayette (4-3, 3-0 Sun Belt).
Corey Leonard passed for 235 yards and one touchdown in the loss for Arkansas State (4-3, 2-1).
Trailing by a score of 23-14 late in the fourth quarter, UL-Lafayette cut its deficit to 23-21 with 4:16 remaining on a four-yard touchdown run by McGuire. Then, with only 42 seconds left in the contest, Fenroy plunged into the end zone from nine yards out to claim the victory for the Cajuns.
Arkansas State scored the only points of the first quarter on a 20-yard field goal by Josh Arauco.
The Red Wolves extended their lead to 10-0 midway through the second quarter on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Leonard to Brandon Thompkins.
Just over one minute later, the Ragin' Cajuns cut their deficit to 10-7 with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Richie Falgout to Luke Aubrey.
With 6:05 remaining in the third quarter, UL-Lafayette grabbed a 14-10 lead with a one-yard touchdown run by McGuire.
The Red Wolves cut their deficit to 14-13 late in the third quarter with a 42-yard Arauco field goal.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Arkansas State scored 10 points in a span of 16 seconds. After Arauco hit a 41-yard field goal, Darious Glover intercepted a pass and raced 29 yards for a touchdown. At that point, the Red Wolves led 23-14 with 7:39 remaining, but the Ragin' Cajuns came storming back to claim the victory.
