Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Kinsmon Lancaster threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns to lead the UL-Monroe Warhawks to a 31-27 victory over the Florida International Golden Panthers in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at FIU Stadium.
Lancaster also rushed for 71 yards and one TD for ULM (4-8, 3-4 SBC), while Frank Goodin paced the team with 93 rushing yards to go along with one touchdown.
Julian Reams rumbled for 122 yards and one touchdowns for FIU (4-6, 3-3), while Paul McCall threw for 239 yards and two scores in the loss.
The Golden Panthers took a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter with a 41-yard Dustin Rivest field goal.
The Warhawks took the lead early in the second frame when Lancaster scored on a 16-yard touchdown run.
A two-yard touchdown run by Goodin just minutes later extended ULM's edge to 14-3.
In the final seconds of the first half, Lancaster hit Zeek Zacharie with a seven-yard touchdown, giving the Warhawks a 21-3 edge as the two teams entered the break.
FIU cut its deficit to 21-10 early in the third frame when McCall connected with Greg Eillingson for a 21-yard scoring strike.
However, ULM responded with a 19-yard touchdown pass from Lancaster to Anthony McCall.
The Golden Panthers continued to claw their way back, as McCall founded T. Y. Hilton with a 55-yard scoring strike.
But in the final seconds of the third frame Radi Jabour nailed a 25-yard field goal to push the Warhawks' lead to 31-17.
A two-yard touchdown run by Reams and a 23-yard field goal by Rivest brought the Golden Panthers within four points, but the team could come no closer, as UL-Monroe held on for the victory.
