Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Five different players scored rushing touchdowns for the Utah State Aggies, as they sent head coach Brent Guy out with a 47-2 win over the New Mexico State Aggies in a Western Athletic Conference tilt at Romney Stadium.
Guy, who was asked to step down by the school's athletic director, ends his four-yard career at Utah State (3-9, 3-5 WAC) with a record of 9-38. Quarterback Diondre Borel completed 14-of-25 passes for 118 yards. He also ran for 53 yards and a touchdown in the win.
It was a long day for NMSU (3-9, 1-7) quarterback Chase Holbrook, who finished with 163 passing yards, one interception and six sacks.
Utah State got into the end zone on each of its first three drives, beginning with a one-yard touchdown run by Robert Turbin five minutes into the game.
The Aggies went up 14-0 on Borel's six-yard TD scamper at the 6:42 mark of the first quarter, and they went up 21-0 on a one-yard touchdown run by Marquis Butler with 2:13 to play in the opening frame.
Late in the second quarter, Utah State's Ronald Scott broke loose for a 64- yard touchdown run to extend the Aggies' lead to 28-0.
Peter Caldwell kicked a 24-yard field goal at the 9:05 mark of the third quarter to put Utah State ahead, 31-0.
Curtis Marsh's three-yard touchdown run made it a 38-0 game with 2:11 to play in the third quarter.
New Mexico State avoided the shutout with a safety in the opening minute of the fourth quarter.
Utah State kicker Chris Ulinski drilled a 56-yard field goal midway through the final frame, and the Aggies later added another touchdown on a 10-yard pass from Sean Setzer to Xavier Bowman.
Utah State's running game accounted for 241 yards and an average of 5.1 ypc.
