NCAA Game Summary - Utah State at Nevada

Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Colin Kaepernick threw for 197 yards and one touchdown to lead the Nevada Wolf Pack to a 44-17 victory over the Utah State Aggies in a Western Athletic Conference battle at Mackay Stadium.

Kaepernick added 48 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground for Nevada (4-3, 2-1 WAC), while Vai Taua led the ground game with 122 yards to go along with one TD on just 17 carries.

Diondre Borel was the main source of production for Utah State (1-6, 1-2), as the quarterback threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns, while also leading the team with 50 rushing yards in the losing effort.

The Wolf Pack struck first in this contest, as Taua scampered into the end zone from 26 yards out. However, a missed extra point left the score at 6-0.

Early in the second frame Nevada extended its lead to 13-0 with a 19-yard touchdown run by Kaepernick.

The Aggies finally got on the scoreboard late in the second stanza, as Borel connected with Otis Nelson for a 16-yard scoring strike.

Less than two minutes later the Wolf Pack answered back as Mike McCoy scored on a 10-yard touchdown run, giving Nevada a 20-7 edge at the break.

Nevada opened the second half with 10 straight points, as Brett Jaekle nailed a 26-yard field goal, which was followed by a 75-yard touchdown pass from Kaepernick to Marko Mitchell.

Utah State cut its deficit to 30-17 early in the fourth quarter with a 42-yard field goal kick by Chris Ulinski, followed by a 52-yard touchdown pass from Borel to Nelson.

The Wolf Pack finished the Aggies off when Jared Silva-Purcell returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown, pushing Nevada's lead to 44-17 late in the final frame.
