San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - The Louisiana Bulldogs used 217 rushing yards to grab an impressive 21-0 victory over the San Jose State Spartans in Western Athletic Conference play at Spartan Stadium.
Daniel Porter paced the ground game with 102 yards, while Patrick Johnson added 84 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries. Ross Jenkins only completed 7- of-16 passes for Louisiana Tech (5-4, 3-2 WAC), finishing the game with 97 yards and one touchdown.
As for the Spartans (6-4, 4-2), they were limited offensively, collecting just 148 total yards. Kyle Reed threw for just 79 yards in the loss, while Myles Eden also struggled, throwing for only 11 yards on 3-of-8 passing. Eden was intercepted twice, while Reed was sacked twice.
After a scoreless first quarter the Bulldogs scored twice early in the second frame, beginning with a 21-yard touchdown run by Johnson.
Less than two minutes later Terry Carter returned an interception 50 yards to give Louisiana Tech a 14-0 edge.
Neither team added to the scoreboard in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs extended their lead to 21-0 in the final frame with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Jenkins to Dustin Mitchell.
It was the first shutout for Louisiana Tech since 1996 when the Bulldogs defeated Middle Tennessee, 20-0.
