Logan, UT (Sports Network) - The Aggies rumbled for 356 rushing yards and three touchdowns, as Utah State pounded the Idaho Vandals, 42-17, in a Western Athletic Conference tilt at Romney Stadium.
Robert Turbin paced Utah State (1-3, 1-0 WAC) with 123 yards and one touchdown on a whopping 8.2 ypc. Quarterback Diondre Borel added 93 rushing yards and one score in the win, and also threw for 191 yards and two TDs on 12-of-21 passing.
As for the Vandals (1-3, 0-1), they were led by Nathan Enderle who threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns. However, the signal caller tossed one interception and was sacked three times.
The Vandals were the first to crack the scoreboard, as Enderle hit Eddie Williams with a seven-yard touchdown pass midway through the opening frame.
The Aggies evened the score early in the second stanza when Borel scampered into the end zone on a 33-yard run.
Idaho opened the second half with a 13-play, 81-yard drive that was capped off with a six-yard touchdown pass from Enderle to Preston Davis.
Once again the Aggies fought back, as Borel connected with Stanley Morrison on a 46-yard touchdown pass.
On the next possession for Idaho the team took a 17-14 lead with a 43-yard field goal by Tino Amancio.
With just seconds remaining in the third quarter the Aggies took a 21-17 lead with a 15-yard scoring strike from Borel to Jeremy Mitchell.
The Aggies never looked back in the final frame, as Utah State scored three consecutive touchdowns to pull away from Idaho.
Utah State first used a defensive touchdown, as Ben Calderwood recovered a fumble in the end zone early in the fourth quarter.
A 41-yard touchdown run by Curtis Marsh midway through the fourth quarter and a 26-yard TD scamper by Turbin late in the frame pushed Utah State's lead to 42-17. It was more then enough points for the Aggies, who held on for their first conference win of the season.
